Ethan Carter
About Me
My name is Ethan Carter and I am currently a senior at NCHS. I’ve lived my whole life in Newton with my mom, Sarah, and dad, Jeff. I also have a brother named Seth and a dog named Jax. My hobbies include making music, programming, playing video games, and tennis. I am currently number one on the tennis team and I hope to stay that way. After high school, I am hoping to go to either U of I or Rose Hulman for computer science, and get a job in that field after I graduate. In high school, I am active in Beta Club, FBLA, and Math club. I look forward to being in CEO this year!

Today, we had Ryan Milsap as a speaker. Ryan is probably the most inspirational person I have ever met. He was unbelievably passionate about Newton and it seemed like he poured his heart and soul into improving our community. It’s good to see a chamber president that really cares about our project and knows what would work best in helping Newton. One thing I liked the most about Ryan was that I never felt below him. He did a great job at taking our input and actually caring what we had to say. I almost always felt engaged in the conversation and he seemed more like a colleague than a speaker. The energy and drive was absolutely incredible and he put more heart in his presentation than any other speaker we have had so far. Overall, I loved having Ryan as a speaker and I am so glad that we were able to listen to him.

Going through CEO, I have learned that we live in a really awesome town with some really awesome people and great business owners. I cannot imagine a place better to be in this program and I can’t believe how much support we get in all of our endeavours.

Lanette Huddlestun is so active and does so much for our community. I am still amazed that she is able to do all the things that she does and still have time for her family. She was a really good speaker for me too, since we are possibly going to be doing a nonprofit company. I really hope that we can get a lot of people for our company and we can really make a difference in town; so far I have only heard good responses from adults saying that they would want their kids in our class. Hopefully it works out, and I can use my passion and knowledge about computers to help our community and prepare these kids for their future.

While I was working on a couple of my thank you letters, I reflected back on all of the business visits and speakers that we have had in CEO already. CEO has given us a lot of opportunities and I am very glad that I made the decision to join. I think that starting a introductory programming class for children for our personal business would be very beneficial to the community and I am very excited to work on that.
